A striking late 17th Century Cabinet on Chest veneered throughout with highly decorative burr Amboyna panels framed with a boxwood line and a straight-grained walnut banding.

The cabinet features a prominent elm cross-grained cornice above a pair of doors that open to reveal a delightful arrangement of short drawers surrounding a central door, which, when opened, reveals an additional six small drawers. The chest section has a bold waist mold concealing a brushing slide above two long and two short drawers, standing on a base mold and turned bun feet.

An early use of Amboyna on a cabinet that reflects the innovative styles of the émigré cabinet makers supplying the Williamite Court.

Of a good colour and condition, having later handles and bun feet, but of the correct style and a few small repairs to the cross-grain mouldings.
