Figured Walnut Cabinet on Chest
This very fine quality late 17th century figured walnut cabinet on chest dates to the Queen Anne/William and Mary period. It exhibits outstanding patina and a rich golden colour.
The cabinet features a shaped cornice above two doors that open to reveal an arrangement of ten drawers of varying sizes. The base of the cabinet includes a secretaire drawer fitted with small drawers and pigeon holes, as well as three long graduated drawers below. It stands on turned bun feet.
This superb example of English cabinet making from the Queen Anne/William and Mary period is in exceptional condition for a piece of its age.
A top-quality cabinet made with oak-lined drawers throughout and highly prized figured walnut veneer in excellent condition, having just later handles and bun feet.
Previously sold in 1989 by the well-respected London dealers Godson & Coles and since then in the Hemmington House Collection
