Early 18th Century Walnut Close Stool.
£0.00
A rare example of a Queen Anne close stool in Walnut and of a very good colour.
With a planked lid over a front with four faux drawers complete with their original engraved handles.
Simulating a small chest of drawers, this lidded box, originally used as a close stool, would work well as a small occasional table with the added attraction of storage.
Also known as a “necessary stool” or “night stool”, close stools were used to contain a pewter or earthenware chamberpot.
Good condition retaining all original brassware, later hinges and the back two feet are old repairs.
